The Tia Imani Hanna Project was born out of a shared interest in improvisation and in creating music that lives in the moment, in shaping a sacred space with music, and in sharing those evolving moments with an audience. Group members Tia Hanna and Carolyn Koebel were recently selected to perform with Bobby McFerrin during his “Bobby meets Michigan” tour at the Wharton Center for Performing Arts. The group is joined for the first time by WMU dance faculty member Jeremy Blair for a truly “in the moment” collaboration.

GRSS on LCC Radio and LCC-TV

It was 2005 when WLNZ began its popular Grand River Radio music series showcasing talented musicians from the Great Lakes region. The concept began as a monthly concert held at unique venues around Lansing. Then LCC Radio reinvented the concept in 2008 as a weekly acoustic show and live broadcast.

Starting in 2014, we continue the celebration of Great Lakes music with a revamped concept, the Grand River Studio Sessions, a LCC-TV and LCC Radiosimulcast experience. The goal: create an atmosphere that gives our listeners and viewers the feel of what it would be like to have an artist recording a demo right in their living room. Stories, interviews, and performance are all a part of the Grand River Studio Sessions.
